You will have the patient sit or lay depending on the injection site, but administering the drug is still the same. First, you will sanitize the site with an alcohol swab and uncap your needle. Then, examine the injection site to make sure there is no scar tissue. If no scar tissue is present you will then pinch the skin with your free hand. Dart the needle into the skin until the needle has completely disappeared into the body. Slowly inject the medication into the muscle. Throughout administration you should ask the patients comfort level, and if the patient is in pain you should stop the injection immediately. Once the medication is completely gone you will slowly remove the needle and place a band aid over the injection
