Subject: Meditation of Introducing Apple Television
Attachment: Why an Apple TV Won’t Happen Anytime Soon
The Achievement of Apple Inc. And The Procrastination of Apple TV The Apple corporation is one of the biggest company in the technology industry in the world. It produces unique and simple technology products that make a great impact on technology industry. For example, iPod eliminated the portable CD players in the market. iPhone is a most desirable technological product in the market now. Deliberating the successful of the iPhone five was introduced; many people hastened to get line for days to buy the iPhone 5. The Apple has the great success to sells Apple TV (tiny entertainment box), iPod (MP3 player), iPad (tablet), and Mac (computer) effectively. Now, the rumors about Apple TV set are an advent in the dilatory 2013 is the controversial topics. The author, Segan Sascha, of “Why an Apple TV Won’t Happen Anytime Soon” contributes the thought of why television from Apple will not happen anytime soon. In the very near future, Apple will not produce Apple television because the negative imprint of Apple’s market environment.
The Defect of Introducing Apple TV The dilemma of Apple cannot produce Apple television is “... a content and delivery problem, and the cable and content cartels see no reason to give up all the power they have to Apple without a fight.” (Sascha) In other words, the author indicates the current cable TV is making profit out of its current business. There is no point to collaborate with Apple corporation when current cable operator, such as direct TV, is making money. Moreover, it is a drawback for cable operators to collaborate with Apple because Apple can destroy the cable business. For example, cable operators tire the idea of bundle channels that available for consumers to watch. Although, consumers only want to watch their favorite movies; they still have to pay for an unnecessary channel that they do not want to watch. The Apple comes up with the idea that only charge the consumers to watch what they are interested in. To state it differently, consumers can watch an action movie, Iron Man, for $1.99 without paying $49.99 per month. Thus, according to Sascha, Apple may take its partners’ domination away. Moreover, Apple TV is unnecessary product that need to be on the market since it successfully does the great job in selling iPod, iMac, and iPhone.
Apple Market Environment Is Changing I identify the market environment for Apple is changing. The technological environments are changing in the way people want and need for their daily life basic. Nowadays, television is different from the one from fifteen years ago. The efficiency of internet and applications (Apps) bring the new method of watching television for entertainment. I conjecture that it is the time for Apple to consider the Apple television because “... new technologies can offer exiting opportunities” (Armstrong 81). Thus, my opinion is different from the author, Sascha. The Apple has the great ability of changing how the phone works, the iPad brings the technology of convenience to life, and the computer (Mac) simplifies the way it works like never before (compared to PC). Thereby, I have the reasons to believe that Apple may success to produce new products as television.
Adequacy of Introducing Apple Television I learn that when the company tries to promote the new product, the company should deliberate the SWOT analysis then indicate the problems of producing it. Expansion (introduce new product) of business requires potential benefits and risks. The reason I choose this topic is that the article’s idea related to the changing of marketing technological environments. Opportunities are hard to find. In this case, Apple has the opportunities to introduce new products and increase its revenue. However, Apple’s problem is the limited of content and delivery issue. While looking the example of Xerox, the company had failed to adapt the new market technological environment (in chapter three page 64-65), I confidently say that Apple should introduce Apple television and draw out the failure of Xerox involved in.
