Melbourne High School Personal Statement
Melbourne High School is one of Australia’s most prestigious school in countless aspects, not only for its highly reputable academic achievements but through diversity, sporting, music, participation and history. It is obvious as to why thousands of students apply to this school yearly seeking for opportunities while only a small amount gets in, and I personally believe that I would suit one of these places at Melbourne High.

Academically wise, I believe that I’m a well-focused and diligent student who strives to achieve highly and make a huge effort to get all my work done on time with extraordinary quality. Last year I had sat the entrance exam for year nine but was unsuccessful to get my first preference Melbourne High School, although

I have a great passion for sport and believe I’ll be able to express this passion at Melbourne High School through the various opportunities and sporting teams. I am greatly interested in the sports: soccer, table tennis, badminton and sprinting. With my previous school, I had represented them in interschool sports for soccer and badminton in the school team. I had passed both tryouts and with soccer, we were able to easily pass divisions and reach regions. I have also had past experience with music where I had private lessons for the piano for around two years which I believe will be handy and I can pick it up again easily. I had also been able to learn a four-chord song on the guitar as part of an assessment for music at school and from this, I wasn’t only able to learn about the song but many other parts of music as a whole. I had self-taught myself how to play the song through YouTube videos and practiced at home which I had really enjoyed and had widened my eyes for my enjoyment of music. From my experience, I believe the guitar was fun and would be something I would love to enjoy and pick up at Melbourne High School further through the participation of opportunities handed to

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

Growing up my mom has always encouraged my siblings and I to continue our education to as far as college. My mother never really got the chance to attend college because her family could not afford to put all their kids in school. She had seven siblings and an extra bill for school was not something her parents were able to afford. I consider myself really lucky to be alive in a time where there are so many opportunities to be able to afford college. If it were not for scholarships and financial aid, my mother’s story would be repeated once again. Through financial aid, the door for a college career is opened for me and I’m willing to enter it. My biggest motivator to push myself academically has been my…

Gallons of sweat trickled down my face while I seamlessly ran up and down the track. At times, I didn’t think I would get through it. It was an everyday struggle to continue my journey down the path of success. At practice, we would relentlessly run and run and run until our breathing neared nonexistent. I, for one, could barely keep up, but the fight inside of me did not die out. My coach would tell us that our meet was nearing and our will to win kept pushing everyone harder. We ran three to four miles a day with little to no breaks. He would yell motivational phrases to push us, but in all honesty, we just wanted to get back in our beds and sleep the day off. Although this is true, It became important to me to work to better myself and though…

My junior year in high school I took two classes from teachers who gave immense amounts of work on difficult material. The classes were Honors Pre-Calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II. After a day at school and a demanding golf practice until dark, it was time to start my homework. By then I was already exhausted, but I still had hours of homework ahead of me. Most schools nights I would not be able to start my hefty pile of homework until 8 o'clock. Many nights the strenuous assignments given in Honors Pre-calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II kept me awake late into the night, even as late as 4 am. It was difficult struggling to stay awake and complete my strenuous workload after an entire day of activity. A full night of sleep…

The vision of work that I have with children 5 years from now is to teach for a while then transfer into the role of a Program Coordinator to help design additional instructional and interactive materials for birth to Pre-K candidates that will help enhance their cognitive, social, reasoning, conception, fine and gross motor skills. I plan on developing technology or assessment tools that will allow teachers to help their students better understand different concepts or performing acts. I want the material draw interest of the candidate in which they will be involved and will not lose interest. In order for this to happen I plan on using the resources around me such as DPI, Smartstart services, and/or providing a survey to educators and…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…

I’m lost, I wish people could help me out and tried to guide me in the direction of the right decision but is my life and choices. It was a Tuesday in Sparta. The cars were bubbling, kids were crystal porting. I spotted my best friend Urina she is very rebellious just like me. I taught her everything she knows. She isn’t as hard to spot since her and I both have midnight black hair, everybody else’s’ hair is blonde. So it’s easier for us to stand out. The sky was filled with kids all around us. During the walk to school we passed by the Time square building. It’s the only building that was taller than all of the other buildings. It had a sphere on top of it surrounded by rings. According to the robot teachers the rings represent a bond for our people. Which I hardly believe is true because the council is never there for us. We have to do what they say and wear what they give us plus serve them.…

From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…
