Re: Things about Interview

We had our first business meeting on February 3, 2015 in the small section class. There were mainly three topics about interview we discussed in the class. Our group’s topic is interview preparation. I got one journal to share named How to “Prepare for a Job Interview” on the website of The Wall Street Journal. In addition, we also learned from other two groups about the interview skills and interview clothing.

In the meeting, I mainly talked about how to prepare for an interview. Interview preparation is the first step throughout a whole interview. Thus, for the interview preparation, people need to know some key points:
Visualizing how the interview will go.
Mental preparation well in advance.
Gain confidence: write down write down several of your greatest accomplishments and then list the skills you used to achieve them.
Besides these three key things in my article, my group members also added that people should
Choosing which company they want to interview.
Searching the information of the company.
Imagine what kinds of questions the interviewee will ask.

One group discussed about the interview clothing and there are some tips for men and women:
Suit (solid color - navy or dark grey)
Long sleeve shirt (white or coordinated with the suit)(men)
Dark socks, conservative leather shoes (men)
The suit skirt should be long enough so you can sit down comfortably
Conservative shoes (women)
Limited jewelry (no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets)(women)
Light make-up, perfume Neatly & manicured clean nails (women)

Another group students gave us some key interview skills:
Practice Good Nonverbal Communication
Don't Talk Too Much
Don't Be Too Familiar
Use Appropriate Language
Don't Be Cocky
Take Care to Answer the Questions
Ask Questions
Don't Appear Desperate

All in all, I learned a lot after having this business meeting about the interview preparation, clothing and skills. I

A checklist will be prepared prior to any interviews. It is important to prepare an interview guide so that interviewer knows what order to ask questions and the amount of time that should be spent on each area of the interview. The interview guide will include open-ended questions that will allow for follow-up discussions. The guide can also double as an outline for a summary of what comes out of the interviews (Havelka and Lee, April 25, 2002).…

    Memo: Employment

Hi Pat, as for the issues of the discharges at the Anderson Cost Club, my thoughts are as follows. The GM at the Anderson Cost is incorrect in saying that we as a company can discharge employees without a reason. There must be a legal reason for the discharge. Now, there are exceptions to the employment at will doctrine. The exceptions are as follows: 1. Bad faith, malicious termination in violation of public policy, 2. Termination in breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. 3. Termination of an implied contract term 4. Violation of the promissory estoppel where the employee relied on the employers promise. There are other exceptions that are determined by the individual states concerning warnings issued by employers. If his reasons fall within the exceptions then the employee can lodge a claim for wrongful termination or discharge. Even though the Cost Club is non-union there are laws that we are governed by that were established to protect the employee. Pat, my suggestion is that we hold a conference call and speak with the GM to establish if he had any other reasons other than downsizing his workforce. We should question the GM on any other motives for discharge that he may or may not have had. After the conference call I suggest that we immediately contact our legal team. This is not to insinuate that we are guilty of anything. We should make sure that we cover ourselves and be ready for any legal fall out. Going forward I will make arrangements for some of our legal team to hold some workshops and trainings for our management employees on the guidelines and policies for the particular state that they reside and work in. This is just to ensure that our management team understands and is adhering to the laws that govern us.…

Physical appearance conveys much about a candidate’s personality and professionalism, so you should dress in a manner that makes a good first impression in an interview. A good guideline is to dress conservatively. Men, for instance, should avoid casual clothes such as khakis and polo shirts. Instead—even if for what seems to be a company with a casual work…

Basing on both of the story, love does not equal sex, but both of them are necessary for a good relationship. Using courting a monk as an example, the couple in the story had love each other in the earlier stage in the story, but as the get married they got to have sex to maintain the good relationship. Moving on drinking coffee elsewhere, the narrator and Heidi started to love each other and they slept together for the whole winter, but they have never had sex as the narrator is overly protecting herself, and so when time moves on, they broke up because their relationship is not complete without a suitable amount of sex.…
