Holidays are when family come together to spend time together. Everyone is happy to see one another and catch up on recent news. My favorite holiday to spend with my family is Labor Day.
Many families all over the country celebrate Labor Day. Adolescents may not understand the importance of this day. There is more to this day then barbequing and family coming over to eat. Labor Day is very significant to veterans and especially America. Labor Day came about over one hundred years ago. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
My father is a retired veteran so we like to cook for Labor Day. Every year my father and I take a trip to the Scot Air Force Base. Here we visit the Commissary to purchase the meat that we're going to cook for the holidays. I really enjoy going every year because it's a long car ride and I get to relax and listen to my music. The Commissary has tax free produce so obviously it's convenient for us to shop there. We can buy a lot of meat and still save money. Also, you get a firsthand view of working people in the service living everyday life. A lot of people come with their family to shop just like us for the holidays.
Labor Day is by far my favorite holiday. It gives tribute to the hard working people that made our country a better place. Also, this day lets them spend time with their families and take a day off work. There is no right or wrong way to celebrate this day, as long as you pay tribute.
My father is a retired veteran. The branch of service he joined was the Army. For m any years my father has traveled the world and has also seen war. Unfortunately, in combat he jumped out of a helicopter and injured his thigh. The injury was so bad that he had to resign from his duties. After this event, he became disables and wasn't able to go back to the Army.
