a pattern was when reading the novel The Color Purple. The novel was narrated by a black woman in the south writing to god depicting her abuse through letters. Her pain is symbolised through God and on several occasions when God is brought up she claims he does not care for a suffering black woman like herself.
Chapter 1- The five aspects of the QUEST; a quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go, challenges along the way, and a real reason to go there.
A time in which I have read in the QUEST form was when reading the novel Crank by Ellen Hopkins. The novel is depicted by a 17 year old girl named Kristina whose entire life is destroyed by “the monster”. Her downhill spiral began when she took a summer trip to visit her father, (whom she soon discovers is playing with the monster). Before long, while a bowling alley she meets a local boy, Adam who first introduces her to meth, the next two weeks are spent getting high with both her boyfriend and father. The next year is to be on her quest which quickly became more of an awful adventure, she becomes a drug dealer, is raped and soon pregnant. Her quest soon defines the rest of her …show more content…
life.
Chapter 2- A meal from a literary work I recall had a very important impact was a scene from the novel, The Color Purple. During this meal which took place at a Mr.____ home, the conversation was never meant to be pleasant but soon things escalated when Shug announced she, Celie and Grady planned on moving to Memphis. Mr.___ refused to take them seriously and insulted everything they stood for, during this scene Celie seizes her opportunity to finally stand up to him after years of abuse and mistreatment. She finishes by putting a curse on him, telling him everything he touch will crumble, Squeak then makes the decision to leave with the other women as well. This meal depicts a moment of trust, not in one another but rather Celie trusting in herself, to make the right decision and to trust that in her soul she deserves better than everything she has suffered through.
Chapter 3- The essentials of a vampire aren't simply about a fictional creature who sucks human blood, but more characteristics, such as selfish.
By taking humans blood, a vampire displays that their fate is more important than anyone else's, in some cases vampires indact lust, by siucking the blood of a human, most likely a woman in which was a virgin, is taking a form of innocence. One literary works I have read which most of these characteristics can be applied to is the novel phenomenon, Twilight. A novel in which a human girl, Belle is intrigued in a vampire, edward, obvious this romance cannot happen. Throughout the novel series many factors contribute to viewing Edward as a lust motivated and somewhat selfish vampire. During the last novel of the series after Bella becomes pregnant with Edward's child. Edward has to make the decision to make Belle become a vampire or die, he then makes the impulsive decision to keep her
alive.
Chapter 4- Intertextuality is an association between text especially through literature. One occasion in which intertextuality has helped me read specific work was when reading the novel The Help. I became aware of the pattern of the novel which heavily revolved around challenging racism and testing the boundaries in which the characters could make an impact. Another occasion in which intertextuality contributed to helping me read was while reading the novel My Sister's Keeper. It helped recognizing that the differences between what was selfish, and was was moral. This question can be thought of all thorough the novel, was it right for Anna’s parents to use science to spare one of their children from pain and to put another through the same type of pain? Lastly, while reading Go Ask Alice, intertextuality was a very important factor. While reading this, the novel follows a constant pattern in which the unnamed girl relapses into discovering a new drugs and continues to be taken advantage of.
Chapter 5- A work that I am familiar with that reflects Shakespeare is Brave New World, the Novel by Aldous Huxley. The author explores the ideas and boundary exploring ideas of the nature of humanity as Shakespeare does in The Tempest. Huxley's characters share similar characters to Shakespeare. John the savage has never seen “civilization”, much like Miranda from who has been on an island with only her father and two spirits.
