Meniere’s disease is a set of episodic symptoms including attacks of a spinning sensation
(Vertigo), hearing loss, a roaring, buzzing, or ringing sound in the ear (tinnitus), and a sensation of fullness in the affected ear. These episodes can last anywhere from 20mins to 4hrs. After months or years of this disease hearing loss can become permanent. Tinnitus can occur during or just before attacks, or be constant. One of the most common causes of dizziness originating in the inner ear. In most cases only one ear is affected, but only 15% of patients will have both ear affected. Meniere’s disease typically starts between the age of 20-50 years. Men and women are affected in equal numbers.
