It’s my pleasure to meet and get along with this mentor, Aero Chan. He is nice man who really provides lots of opinions on my further learning and the future career.
I am not sure about what major program should I choose for master degree if I want to gain a better job. Aero shared me that the real job of human resources relies on a higher proportion of job experience instead of the education level. Aero also shared me with lots of job content and job experiences with me. For example, being a human resource officer, the major job content is mainly center on the routine work like generating the table or report of employee performances and calculating employee salary based on the different job level and the performance level.
This helps me to shape the actual job situation and get a deeper understanding of real job like.
Used to, I still wondering whether I should apply master degree or directly get into the job. Aero told me that I should focus on the personal learning development instead of caring too much of the starting point of job salary. He suggested me, I can get into the job after the graduation. This could help me gain the real-life experience which could contribute to my application of human resource professional knowledge. Moreover, it could deepen my understanding of learned theories and improve my problem-solving skills. For instance, I can analyze the business case and apply what I learned from university based on the real-life situation. I could immediately response to unexpected incidents if I keep on practicing respond to real-life situations. Aero also recommended that I could study the part-time master degree if I really want to keep on academic studying.
In addition, Aero shared advantages and weakness of joining an international company or a small size company after graduation. As he said, joining an international company could help me build a professional impression when I was going to interview other companies in future. This also could increase the probability of entering a new company. But he also mentioned that I can train different aspects of skills in a small size company compared to doing a tiny part of work inside a large company.
Besides providing the opinions on how to choose directions of learning and career, Aero also ask about my summer holiday plan. I was planning to practice my grammar and oral in summer period. Aero gave me some suggestions about how to facilitate the English learning. For instance, I can find a job which provides a language environment for me to practice my oral and gains a number of extra money.
Apart from the personal development plan, Aero also cares about my personal life. He showed his loving care for me by asking about how do I get used to the university life and get along with my classmates. He reminded me that I should take a good time management to better manage my studying and consider my future plan about career in advance. He also encourages me to maintain a work-life balance since he is well known about the study pressure and it could influence the healthy if didn’t get a well management. And, keeping a work-life balance could help me find a way to release my job pressure in the future, it’s good for the psychological health.
