Mercantilism
Mercantilism is a system in which a country attempts to gain wealth through trade with other countries, exporting more than it imports. England did mercantilism when the triangle trade was occurring, to make sure the colonies traded with only them and not other countries. Mercantilism was more efficient to England, since the colonies had not choice of who to trade with, and they (England) were the one who were getting richer. But in the other hand the colonies it wasn’t so bad they weren’t getting richer but had enough to keep them alive.
Great Britain made up the navigation Act that made mercantilism more favorable to them because the colonies did not have the freedom of choice. Meaning they could not choose whom they traded with, restrict trade. The only country they could give their goods were to England, making them powerful and richer. When imported goods from Asia and Africa had to arrive in England and the colonies in English ships. Goods tracked between colonist and other must be unloaded in England first. Resulting in higher taxes and prices paid by the colonist. The England did other acts such as sugar act Quartering acts and stamp Act that made them in control of the colonies giving them no freedom to pick there own laws.
The England had more power over the colonies. They became richer at the expense of its colonist. The colonies weren’t allowed to produce their own goods. The things that were sending from the colonies were gold, silver, fur, lumber, and foodstuff, which were usually at low price. This raw materials were then be turn in something to use such as chairs, tables etc. Would then be sold in a higher price in the colony. England bought the product in low price and sell they good in higher price making themselves richer but not the colony.
But not only did the England benefit from Mercantilism, the other side or the colonies also benefit. The colonist could obtain goods from other
