Merlin Prophesize About Guine Analysis
3. The advantages of showing proof in kingship by pulling a sword from and object may be that it is an impossible task and others can see the miraculous triumph and it can help with others giving their trust in knowing that that person is righteous and true. Significance of being able to pull a sword from an object is that they are powerful and righteous.
5. I think that the reason why the authors did not give Merlin perfect predictions is because in life we all have choices and nothing is ever written in stone. Also to know everything that is going to happen to you in life takes a certain aspect out of the experience of life. Maybe the reason he didn’t tell Arthur about his sister is because he didn’t know or because Arthur is supposed to be the most noble and honorable among all men and maybe it was a test. Arthur’s plan fails to kill Mordred because as the fates would have it, the ship wrecks and the child survives. Maybe this is due to the common theme that everyone has a destiny and fate to fulfil. Merlin’s flaws I think can effective in making people look at him in a negative light. It could make some people think that he may have an alternative motive by Arthur being king.
8. Merlin prophesizes about Guinevere because he wants to warn him of the heartache she is going to bring upon him.

I think that by ending in the story in a mysterious death adds to the story because it leaves the readers with almost an opened interpretation to their imagination as to what could have happened. Is he really dead or did he go to Avalon, heal, and return to his people in secrecy? I think it would be cool to think that he was healed and returned to his people in secrecy. The Lady of the Lake was magical. Plus, she said that she would give Excalibur to Arthur in return for a favor/gift at her time of choosing. Nowhere in this version of the story did she call upon him to return the favor. Maybe she healed him and sent him on a quest for herself or kept him for

    3. Arthur shows rights and responsibilities in the movie because Arthur held court and used the law to decide the guilt or innocence of the Queen and Lancelot and if guilty their punishment. He held a public trial so every citizen can see the law at work. This shows rights and responsibilities by letting the people decide the fait and having a say, Arthur is allowing the people to exercise their rights of opinion. As well he does not get greedy or let his anger get the best of him before announcing Lancelot’s punishment. Also he uses the round table with high respect and…

When comparing the two siblings, if Arthur is a Christian figure then Morgan is a Pagan one, which makes them natural adversaries. In other words, their rivalry has religious undertones. Carolyne Larrington argues that Morgan's rivalry fails because “both her gender and because her plan, which was dependent on magic, was foiled by a more powerful enchantress and a vigorous king” (Larrington 38). However, I would argue that her rivalry fails simply because she was a representative of the Pagan life, which at the time was slowly being christianized, making Arthur the victor every…

Returning home to visit his mother he comes across the Fisher King, who invites him to stay at his castle. While there he witnesses a strange procession in which young men and women carry magnificent objects from one chamber to another. First comes a young man carrying a bleeding lance, then two boys carrying candelabra. Finally, a beautiful young girl emerges bearing an elaborately decorated graal, or "grail", passing before him at each course of the meal. Perceval, who had been warned against talking too much, remains silent through all of this and wakes up the next morning alone. He finds his mother is dead, then Arthur asks him to return to court. But before long, a loathly lady enters the court and admonishes Perceval for failing to ask his host whom the grail served and why the lance bled, as the appropriate question would have healed the wounded king.…

Merlin has no control over his power. Merlin only knows what his god wants him to know. Merlin can only see the big picture and not the small details. Merlin knows that the plan will be fulfilled, but he does not know “how” it will be. For example, he does not foresee killing King Gorlios. As much as Merlin is a prophet, he is still mortal. Merlin has faults like everybody else. Uther blames Merlin for how the plan happened, but Uther quickly forgets that Merlin never guaranteed anything. The problem is everyone expects more than Merlin can deliver. Nobody can deny that Merlin is a great prophet, but people get mad when Merlin cannot fulfill every whim. They do not understand that his power does not work on command. People expect more than what Merlin can…

    Dr. Guiness's Analysis

    • 250 Words

Dr. Guiness said that there is nothing higher than Christian ambition. He began telling a story about a student who asked him during one of his lectures: “if you would be given a chance to pick a generation you would like to be in, which generation would you choose?” He thought about it for a second and answered, “your generation”. He described our generation a crunch one that converged and grew faster than any generations. Dr. Guiness described us that we liked freedom from individuality. Because of this, we as Christians rose to follow the call of God. We thought that by following Him would make us be more in touch with ourselves. He then described what ambition meant for him. He said that ambition was a desire or determination to achieve…

As he celebrated the first anniversary of his reign, Arthur wanted to befriend the six kings in the west by sending messengers with gifts to greet them. Though these kings were bitter at first, it is stated in The Tale of King Arthur that, “they all agreed to parley with Arthur, and pledged themselves to his safety” (Malory 27). In Arthur’s effort to provide peace he used largesse to help keep people satisfied. Part of Arthur’s strength to lure others to trust him was relied in the prophecy Merlin who stood by Arthur and helped him become the legend he is. Arthur was also very forgiving of others. He had imprisoned Sir Balin for killing one of his cousins while jousting but when he had withdrawn the sword from the scabbard presented by the noblewoman; he represented that Arthur’s knights are of the best. As Malory writes:…
