Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka

The story Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is about a loyal devoted, enthusiastic man name Gregor who is studiously working hard to pay off his family debt, he falls victim, to a strange affliction which somehow causes him to transform into a strange grotesque vermin insect of some sort. “Well there still hope; once I’ve saved enough money to pay back my family debts to him that should take another five or six years - I’ll do it without fail. I’ll cut myself completely loose then.For the moment, though, I’d better get up, since my train goes at five.” (Kafka 786).This quote emphasizes how willing Gregor was to support his family and the integrity, will power and pride he had in order to become benefactor to his family.In knowing all of this, he generally gave up on everything included his social life by working and also becoming a vessel to his family because he wanted them to live the pursuit
Moreover, because he wanted to give his family the best life as possible. And I quote “Well why is she crying, because he wouldn’t get up and the chief clerk in, because he was in danger of losing his job and because the chief clerk in because he was in danger of losing his job, and also because the chief would begin dunning his parents again for the old debts.” ( Kafka 790). This supports the notion that the Chief Clerk has lost his job and his vanity so to speak, and Gregor anticipates that soon or later, his time will also be up and he might loss his job as well, which is serving to be his only detriment for survival of himself and also survival towards supporting his family since they relied on him for everything. Seeing as though Gregor was the only source of income for his family, and also seeing as though Gregor not able to get another Job.
