Chapter 2: The establishment of the laser broom In 2040, all the studies about “Meteor” are finished. Governments also finished constructing the setup robotics and the rocket to send the robotics to ISS. On January 13th, 2041, the first rocket for the mission successfully launched. The rocket carried a payload of 1000 kg of robotics for laser broom setup. The final stage of rocket reached to an altitude of 400 km and it successfully docked with ISS. The docking process involves complicated orbital rendezvous so that the rocket stage and the space station arrive at the same orbit and approach to a very close distance. The docking used V-bar (velocity vector) approach.

The social studies teacher had won the opportunity through NASA’s Teachers in space program. This put a horrible mark on NASA’s reputation. Some even wanted to close the exploration to space. American was in mourning and everyone felt the blow of the tragedy. However, President Ronald Reagan saw it fit to continue space exploration. He gave an argument and a tribute to America and the families of the lost passengers. In its two hundred and twenty eight years of existence, the country of America has seen many tragedies and failures. However, in the eyes if many, the worst of these tragedies was by far the Challenger disaster of 1986. The story in the movie October Sky has many similarities to the situation of starting a company as an entrepreneur. The trial and error process is a main theme as Homer, the founder of the Big Creek Missile Agency, begins to launch rockets into the sky. This is the main correlation between October Sky and the process of becoming an entrepreneur. The Big Creek Missile Agency's first rocket could be considered a success or failure depending on how you view their accomplishment. The rocket was constructed of an empty tube of a flashlight with a hole in one side filled with cherry bomb powder. After seeing the Sputnik satellite in the sky, Homer found a passion for learning about and involving himself with rockets. A similar passion is…

I choose this speech because I remember this tragedy and I currently live in the Space Coast of Florida where NASA is located, so it is of great interest to me. President Reagan gained the attention of the audience by foregoing the planned state of the union address and explaining he was only going to discuss the subject of the tragedy that occurred earlier that day only, helping to emphasize the severity of what occurred. The purpose of this speech was to show compassion to a nation that has great pride in the space program and to encourage those who might be feeling disheartened and discouraged about it all. He reminded us of the dangers of space exploration and the tremendous courage the crew possessed to take on the endeveor in spite of the risks and that we should all draw comfort from that, they knew what the possibilities were and for the sake of knowledge and the hopes of advancing technology they jumped in feet first and accepted these risks.…

Intimacy plays a key role in both Dillard and O’Brien’s works; it sucks the readers into story and locks their attention. In both works, building intimacy is primarily achieved through the use of personal anecdotes. Written in first person point of view, the anecdotes make us feel as if the author is next to us, trying to share the experience and feelings of an important moment in their life. Both TTTC and PATC are utterly books of anecdotes, and this extensive use of anecdotes keeps the readers involved. From TTTC, chapter “On the Rainy River”, O’Brien writes, “This is one story I’ve never told before. Not to anyone. Not to my parents, not to my brother or sister, not even to my wife.” The act of confession, and stating how he hasn’t told anyone rapidly elevates the status of the readers; from a mere “reader” to someone even closer to O’Brien than his own family.…

Popular media in our society exposes what we have collectively decided is passable behavior. If it can be published in Hollywood without the backlash of its audience, then it’s socially exceptable. In the case of such movies as Tropic Thunder, as observed by author Patricia E Bauer, while those unaffected by the movie’s harsh language may not care, it shouldn’t be so easy to dismiss those that were. The apathy in regards to the mentally disabled is a testament to a past of fear and lack of understanding towards them. Though the taboo behind the word is recognizable to us at this point, to many it’s still ok to use as long as they “didn’t mean it like that”. Bauer doesn’t have an issue with the word in its intended form. It’s the twisted use…

When we feel like we’ve failed, we sometimes want to give up in fear that we will get the same result. In 1986, Ronald Reagan knew very well that NASA’s mission to send the Challenger into space had failed. People lost their lives that day. But he stood by NASA and said, “We’ll continue our quest in space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys continue.” Reagan encouraged…

February 2013, asteroid 2012 DA14 is plummeting towards Earth. My science class at Crestwood Junior High was chatting about this amazing phenomenon. Most of the class is just counting down the minutes until the bell rings. But I had just started my journey through the unknown, that is still going on today. Wanting to learn all I can about spacecrafts, planets, asteroids, and the many other things around us. From some of the first spacecrafts, all the way to cool technologies that never came to be. Just like the Dyna-Soar spaceplane that was canceled just before building started. This space age style journey has been going on for more than three years. Over just three short space filled years, I have accumulated two telescopes,…

I learned that Halley’s Comet has been sighted in 30 occasions but the earliest was by the Chinese in 240 BC. For 2000 years the best observation sight was in China, the Chinese government ran an astronomical bureau for people to see. Halley’s Comet should sound like“valley”, although, some pronounce “Hawley”. I have also found out that Halley is the first comet ever to come back. It was to be believed that the comet was to be observed in Greece between 467 and 466 BCE . It takes 75 to 76 years to complete its orbit. Halley's Comet appeared during the Battle of Hastings. One of King Harold’s attendants telling the King of the comet it was stated that the comet was a bad omen, it was a sign of God’s anger about King Harold’s unrightfully claimed…

The second astronaut mission is going to be held in the next few years, with Major Dr.Faiz Khalid had been chosen for the mission.
