Week 2 Case Analysis Template
1. Define the Objectives for the Conference Decision Case. Objectives should be separated into fundamental and means objectives.
After readnig the Week 2 Case Anaslysis on the Conference Decision, I would say that the fundamental objective would involve having to find a new location with having to set a new date for the conference while having to save cost at the same time as upper management is in favor of the conference as it is crucial to the development of the company. It is important to remember that IF the cost of carrying on with the conference were to increase meaning additional costs for the attendees, then the organization will face the rishk of a loss in the number of attendees. So therefore the organizers should note that there is a strong possibility that the potential attendees may base their decison to attend or not based on the additional costs they may incure. Aiming for the maximum attendance at the conference is another fundamental objective as this is crucial to the success of the conference, so whatever route the organizers take, they need to ensure that the decision does not deter the attendees from attending the conference.
When it comes to the means objectives, I would recommend reaching out to the prospective attendees in order to get a more accurate head count as of that particular date. Being open with the attendees and asking honest questions such as if a venue change and/or dte change would affect their decision to attend the conference? etc... And if for whatever reason majority of the attendees are unable to attend during the set date, it is up to the organizers to decide if rescheduling the conference date in order to find another suitable location is ideal. Ultimately, this will afford the prospective attendees the time to reschedule their transportation arrangements and their schedules for a future date.
