Sept. 09. 2014 Businesses run into minor problems that should be solved, and make the business run better. An information system gives us ways to solve these problems. Information systems are basically the combination of hardware, software used to help personnel in decision making (“information systems”, 2014). Information systems were designed by users to solve particular business problems. With the development life cycle we have five phases, which is maintenance, planning, analysis, design, and implementation.
Planning- Define the problem, and prepare a written document about your plan.
Analysis – The system Analyst must figure out if the system is economically, operationally, and technically workable.
Design – The Analyst designs the system using layouts of the screen, and description of the files hardware, software, and procedures.
Implementation – The Analyst buys the components for the system, and tests the components, and then installs them.
Maintenance – After the system has been in use for a sometime. Things might need to be tweaked or updated, because mistakes were not detected in the initial startup
So that the business can avoid the daily problems with attendance of their employees. This business decides to use a newly computerized entry system. A feasibility study must be used first by management for this new system. This new system must be usable by management, and the employees will report their appearance. This new system must be analyzed to see if it is economically feasible, and technically feasible. This system will be designed with software, and tested and implemented. After this new system has been used for a while, the system will be updated, and tweaked for flaws, or mistakes from the startup.
