Compare and contrast Maslows and Alderfer theory
Both theories show the role of needs as the motivation forve behind behavior. People are motivated to do things by their needs. Both also have the same criteria (recognition, growth, achievement etc...)
Compare:
Maslows’s theory includes 5 needs, including physioligical and safety beloingingness- love, esteem – status, self- actualisation. Alderfers’s theories are divided into 3 needs: Existence, Relatedness and Growth.
The second difference between these two theories is Alderfer considered that people could move around the hierarchy meeting their needs, while Maslow believed that people start from the bottom and work their way up. and the needs are arranged in sequence, that means until the first orrdr of needs had been satisfied, there would be no interest in the subsequent orders.
On the other hand, the final purpose of people in Maslow is self-actualisation, whearas, Alderfer focused on building a theory for personal growth.
Maslow is recogined as a foundation and a new model for understanding human motivation. Alderfer is the next generation theory based on Maslow theory
Adam’s Equity theory
First, this theory is aimed to focused on working environment and the relationship between individual – group and between the different positions in an organization. The model extend beyond the individual self and incorporates influene and comparison of other people’s situation, for example: friends, classmates and co-worker. When people feel fairy, that would be most mood for the motivation. It focuses on inputs and outcomes aspects or effort- rewards or give away- take back
Inputs is understood as any of the following: time, effort, loyalty, commitment, skill, trust, etc.
Outcomes are realixed as both sides consequences
The theory aims to determining the distribution of justice. The equity is measured be comparing between the contributions and the benefit that people can get back,
