Despite a very successful rookie year, it was overshadowed by exceptional years by Carmelo Anthony and LaBron James. Wade would finish third in votes for rookie of the year, behind Anthony and James. Despite a 5-15 start, the Miami Heat would go on to finish 42-40 and make the playoffs. In game one of their first series, which was against the New Orleans Hornets, Wade hit the game-winning shot. The Heat would go on to win the series 4-3. In the second round of the playoffs, the Heat faced top seeded Indiana and after a close series they would go on to lose it 4-2. Beginning with bacteria and unicellular organism, through invertebrates, fish and amphibians, on to reptiles, birds, and eventually land mammals, species have evolved in huge leaps and bounds in the millions of years that our planet has been in existence. We have moved out of the water and onto the land, we have developed brains and nervous systems, highly advanced survival instincts and social and behavioral traits that did not exist millions of years ago. Species have evolved to become more diverse and more complex through a number of different biological trends. But as much as we can learn about these phenomena by observing changes over time, in it much more difficult to predict where evolution is heading in the long run. Which species will survive and thrive, and which will find themselves unable to carry on due to changing conditions, threats, and competition? Evolution has allowed humans in particular to thrive and become creatures of choice, freedom, and responsibility. Although other animals have gained somewhat similar traits, it is clear that humans have control in hierarchy of animal society. In our rise to domination, we have created a disadvantage for other species to evolve to their full capacity. It is perhaps hard for more than one species to evolve towards full freedom at the same time. If humans found themselves faced with a dramatic change in environment…

I am a huge college and NBA basketball fan like millions of other Americans. I love to watch my favorite college players go to the NBA and follow their career. The NBA has allowed high school basketball players to choose if they want to go directly to the NBA or go to college since 1971. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s it became more common for high school players like Lebron James, Kevin Garnett , and many other players choose to skip college and go directly into the NBA. Many people wanted a change in the rule, because they though the teenage players were too young, immature, emotionally and physically not ready to be in the NBA. In 2005, the NBA commissioner David Stern changed the rule and made it mandatory for US born high school players to be at least nineteen years old or one year removed from high school before entering the NBA draft. The rule basically raised the age limit to enter the NBA the rule would become known as the “one and done rule”. The rule change has had many positive and negative effects on the sport of basketball, colleges, coaches and players and become controversial.…

When I was young my dad and I played Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam. The television we played on was horrible. It was one of those 1970's pop out power button the only twelve channel kind. The picture was far from sharp, but it got the job done. My Dad and I had to use a special adapter that plugged into the co- axle on the television. The TV my dad and I played on and the difficulty at which it was to set up just adds to why these games have memorable qualities for me. My father and I would play Mortal Kombat which is a game with blood and gore and finishing moves called fatalities. “Finish him” signaled the end of a round where my father would initiate a fatality. A fatality involves insane things like ripping someone's head from there neck with…
