i) Trend of MICE industry
MICE, which is an acronym for Meeting, Incentive Tours, Conference, and Exhibitions, is fiercely growing industry with the global business today across national borders. This terminology first appeared from Southeast Asian Countries like Singapore, Hongkong, and Malaysia as they experience the leap of economic development thanks to convention business.
MICE industry is usually expressed as “a golden industry without chimney”. It means it has unlimited potential of development since it involves a lot of people internationally, facilitating large amount of money. However, because this industry ensures high-added value, all countries are putting a flat-out effort to win the silent battle. Core infrastructures, integrated resorts and multiple complex facilities is already showing its effect in representative examples Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, Macao’s Venetian, and Las Vegas’ the Palazzo.
ii) Trend in Korea
Recently, Korea is also welcoming MICE industry due to its limitless opportunity and future development. Seoul, appointed as global top 5 convention city by the UIA (Union of International Associations), has been a great venue for hosting huge international conventions.
