Michelangelo Buonarroti's Life During The High Renaissance

Throughout life, people are faced with two choices: become a product of society or become a force that impacts society and its history. Impacting society does not mean that a person needs to make a grand speech or discover the cure for a disease. It can be as simple as painting a picture. Michelangelo Buonarroti did just that. Born in 1475, Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet at the height of the High Renaissance period in Florence, Italy. This period was a time where Italy saw major achievements in art, music, literature, philosophy, and science (Britannica, 2016). Michelangelo’s incredible works of art can only be surpassed by the enormous influence he had on subsequent artists. His accomplishments as an artist acted as a force of change not just in the world of artistry, but globally as well.
This period spanned three centuries and was a time Europe underwent a cultural change. New developments and discoveries were made in the arts, sciences, literature, music and philosophies. Michelangelo was one of the most prominent people during the High Renaissance, the point at which at which art was the focus. He contributed many sculptures, paintings, poems, and writings to the renaissance period (Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, 2001). Some of the most noteworthy works include the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, the Pieta’, and David. These works (among many others) had a huge influence on other artists during his time and future artists as
