In the early 1980’s in a small Podunk town of Ada, Oklahoma, a young woman named Debra Sue Carter, was savagely raped and killed in her own apartment after work at the local cocktail bar. Quickly, the town drunk was arrested in relation to the rape and murder with nothing more than a single “eyewitness” that placed him at the woman’s job that night. Many regulars to the bar said that “they would know if Ron Williamson was at the Coach Light and he wasn’t there.” They, in fact, named another man: Glenn Gore, the prosecution's main witness. Gore was also the man that Debbie’s friend said that she was afraid of and he was supposedly at Debbie’s apartment the night of the murder, according to the friend who received a phone call that night from Debbie. Gore was also seen being pushed away by the victim at the victim’s car the same night as the murder.…
The issue presented is whether or not Josie was operating her vehicle. Based on the fact pattern in Josie’s case the finding of her being in “operation” would be in her favor under the applicable law. Operating while intoxicated (OWI) is defined by Ind. Code § 9-30-5-2, which states, “A person who operates a vehicle while intoxicated commits a Class C misdemeanor.” Ind. Code 9-13-2-118, defines “operator” meaning a person who drives or is in actual control of a motor vehicle upon a highway. To determine whether or not a person was operating a vehicle they used the Hiegel test with four factors but only the second factor concerns us here, it state whether or not the motor was running.…
It would be absolutely against my values to allow this woman and her two young children continue to reside in a home where domestic violence is occurring. I would make sure that my friend Betty is aware of the fact that these people are vulnerable and they need to have their location remain confidential but I would not share details of their situation. Additionally, I would make sure that the situation would be as temporary as possible until they were able to get into the domestic violence shelter. 2.…
Michelle the mother of Joshua currently has an open case concerning the well-being of Joshua. She is also currently receiving services and assistance. Since she has an open case, other allegations are being made about her, it could cause her to lose custody. I would recommend a safety plan immediately and remove Joshua from the home until Michelle gets a psychosocial assessment done and to see if she has the ability to take care of Joshua at the present time. There are a lot of issues with Michelle case that could prevent the family from achieving their service goals. Michelle needs to seek counseling immediately due to her recent diagnosis of being HIV positive. She has to be aware that she must cooperate in order for her to accomplish…

The level of prevention Tertiary prevention. I feel this way because you cannot prevent what has already happened you just have to rehabilitate this person. And hope they learn to not deal with the abuse the lady used the panic which prevented the man from hurting the lady and he went to jail. I would have done things A little differently I would have told her that she needs to stand up to him and I would be there when she did. Because she has low self esteem I would put her in a program that helps her to gain confidence about herself. I do think they did a good job by calling the police because he needs to know he can’t…

The woman had made allegations against one of the perpetrators as a child but agencies decided her mother could protect her. When her mother died, he was allowed to become her carer, making her sleep on a carpet in the hall at his home. He began taking the woman’s benefit money, deprived her of food and liquid and made her sit in the dark for long periods. Together with two friends he forced her to strip, shaved her head, sexually assaulted her and repeatedly stamped on her face and body. They also threw the woman over a fence, handcuffed her to a door and set fire to her clothing.…
