Microsystem
The microsystem is a system in which most directly impacts an individual, their everyday environment. It is the system in which children form social relationships, where cognitive and physical skills are developed, and where success and failure is experienced. Benjamin (Ben) Hartin's microsystem consists of his parents, extended family, his school, teachers, and the caring professionals within his school. Ben's microsystem has also had …show more content…
Four LCSWs are charged with the duties to include internal advocacy for parents and student, school-home liaisons, home visits, referrals, education groups (both parent and student), peer mediation and conflict management training, and case staffing for special education. Additionally, one LCSW works in the Early Head Start program and the sole mission of this position is to be a bridge between Early Head Start and the family. The first interaction between the Hartin family and a LCSW with the school system was after a referral from Ben's pediatrician. Ben was thought to be developmentally delayed and the social workers mission was to get Ben into the district's Early Head Start program. The family initially agrees to his placement but shortly after refused services. The next interaction with a district LCSW came four years later. In four years there was no follow-up.
