Middle Range Nursing Theories
Nursing theory is a framework designed to organize knowledge and explain phenomena in nursing, at a more concrete and specific level. The need for nursing theories is very crucial because nursing theories usually addresses the phenomena of interest to nursing and also the relationship between the nurse and the patient, goals and also the purpose. Also the purpose for nursing theory is to advance the discipline and professional practice of nursing .There are three types of nursing theories which includes grand theory, middle-range theory, and Practice theory. In this case we will focus on the relationship between middle range nursing theory and evidenced based practice nursing theory. Grand theory have the broadest scope and usually present general concepts and prepositions. At this level, theories here …show more content…
They serve as a bridge between grand nursing theories and actual nursing practice. Since they are more specific it is easier to test them through empirical research. Evidence based practice nursing theory is a problem-solving approach to clinical practice that uses the best available evidence, along with the nurse's expertise and the client's preference and values, in making decisions about care. Practice theory also has got the most limited scope and theories that are derived from this level have much direct impact on nursing practice than those theories that are more abstract. Nursing practice theories are very important in nursing practice because they provide frameworks for nursing interventions and also they are used to predict possible outcomes and reveal the impact of nursing practice.
