Middle School Vs High School Research Paper
I think that high school might be sort of scary for me, because it will be very different from middle school in most ways, and only somewhat the same. I know that I will have to take different classes and that I will have lunch with all of the other grades, and in tenth grade I can start going off campus for lunch. The amount of work tends to be the same, according to my high school friends. There is another difference, which is there is no recess. There are only seven classes, and then seminar, which is the same as middle school. The campus is also really different, due to the fact that there are separate buildings, unlike the middle school, where everything was in one building. Lastly, in high school, there is more people I don’t know who are in …show more content…
I remember in sixth grade I was kind of scared of being at the bottom, and I think the same might happen next year. I did get over it though when I made friends that were sixth and seventh graders, and I do have some friends that will be in tenth grade next year. I will have to make some new friends because some of my friends are moving before school starts again, or they’ve just moved. I will also have to make sure I become more serious about my work, and maybe join a club or sport for balance. The four years of high school are the years to be focussing on what you want to really do and to start making all your skills for the future better. Most of the differences of high school are minor, so I believe that I will be able to get used to them quickly and move on to focus on things that are more important. It will be great to be considered more mature, and I am ready for the responsibilities I will have during high school. I don’t think that I will have basically all A’s like I have gotten throughout middle school, but I do think that I will have an AB honor roll. Overall I think high school will be very educational, but also somewhat

I see high school as deeper work, more responsibility, and more homework. The teachers are a lot harder on you. In high school, you get more freedom than in middle school because you’re older. There is harder work because the standards are higher. There is more responsibility because the teachers think you can do it and you have to keep up with more books and stuff.…

Starting high school was a terrifying idea to me. Different teachers, class times, lockers, drama! I remember that I always looked up to my older sister while she was in high school. She had tons of friends, played sports, participated in student government, and went out for the school play. I wanted to be just like her when I started high school. In middle school, I lined myself up for this, I played soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter. I helped out in the school plays, and I joined the student government. I had a group of great friends, and thought nothing bad was going to happen.…

I know it would be cool to choose the classes you go to in middle school, but it would not be right. Kids won’t choose any classes they would need to learn in these three years of our lives called middle school. Before beginning high school, you are required to pick levels that you feel comfortable with that correspond with the school-picked courses. You also have to choose three elective classes. Any of these classes could include Art, Chorus, Intro to Family and Consumer Science, Accounting, Graphic Presentations, and many more. All of your chosen classes receive a letter grade, just like middle school, but the required classes are picked according to your academic capability. For example, if you are the type of student that does not do well scholarly, you would choose a level three class. This option is a great way to do better in school. Also in high school, there are more extracurricular options. High school offers a numerous amount of clubs and sports. From soccer and swimming to ping pong club and French club. If any of the extracurricular activities don’t interest you, you even have the opportunity to create your own club with the help of a teacher. In middle school, your classes are already selected and you cannot change them. These classes are mandatory, just like high school, but everyone learns at the same level. This can be a disadvantage for students who take longer to process than others. Also, in middle school, you cannot create your own clubs. The sports and clubs the school provides are your only selections.…

When I got to middle school, things were a lot different. Everybody was separated into different cliques and there was a lot of peer pressure. It was more difficult to learn in class; if you paid attention too much, then your friends would make fun of you. Eventually, I started to goof off in class just to fit in. My grades went from straight A's to a C average. My mom started to worry about me; she said I wasn't reaching my potential and was disappointed how I wasn't dedicated in school anymore.…

People are repetitively asking me if I am ready/excited/scared for high school. Ready? Sure, of course I am. High school is a long time coming, and no matter how much the teachers are trying to scare the freshman, school is school. All I want to do is get in, get out, and learn something in the process. Excited? Well, loving school has always been an extremely odd trait of mine. Of course none of my friends are ever going to understand, but what can I do? Scared? Well, should I be? I am in all seriousness asking you, well, myself, because I could very well just be a naïve 13-year-old who needs to come to her senses. I think things will be absolutely fine this year, all I need to do is get into the groove and everything will work out.…
