Midlothian Advantages
On this adventure of career searching and placement I’ve been to every open house and read every speciality center summary. Coming across Midlothian’s IB program caught my eye, and I can picture myself succeeding in this center.

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

The separation of powers is a system of joint power also known as Checks and Balances. This lead to creating three branches to our constitution, which are The Legislative branch made up of the House and Senate, the Executive branch made up of the President and vice president and the judicial branch, which is made up of the federal and the supreme courts. Separation of powers therefore, refers to the division of government responsibilities into individual branches to limit any one branch from taking the primary roles of another . Each of these branches has certain powers they are able to convey but each of these powers are restricted, or checked by another branch. For example, the President chooses judges and secretaries in different departments,…

In the southern colonies, the plantation owners were the top tier followed by the middle class farmers, indentured servants and finally the black slaves. Due to the economic activity in the south, slavery was essential and contributed to much of the population. However, in the northern colonies, due to the lack need for labor, slavery wasn’t as popular. My parents first heard about the new program in the middle of my fifth grade year. Because of the program’s objective, my parents were convinced to enroll me in the program. A week after the interviewing process I was accepted to attend the program. When I first arrived, I notice how the school was smaller than other schools. I also found the environment of the school quite peculiar to what I was immune to. A month later I was one of many students being prepared for college. All three years, as being a Risley student, the program was given a report on its outstanding performances.…

Lastly, let’s talk about Stephanie Braden from Austin HS, let’s start with how she organizes her year. She organizes her year easy for football and contest season, her football season is short and she usually finishes contest either the end of February first weekend in March. She holds tryouts in March to start practicing with her new team as they do a dance in Spring Show to make their debut to the high school. One thing that I don’t agree with her on is the date party that they hold. I don’t really agree with this because a lot can go wrong with this like alcohol and would be much easier to save money and hold a nice banquet. Lastly, one thing that really resonated with me was that this job is a job of sacrifice and dealing with all types…

As a high school senior I sat in my room trying to decide my future in a day among dozens of college pamphlets. Somewhere at the bottom of all of those brochures was one for Motlow State Community College. Not only was it at the bottom of my pile, but it was completely outside of my radar at the time. Now, so many months later, I am sitting in a room on the Motlow campus typing this. I never once imagined myself here. Nevertheless, attending this school and joining the honors program was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Going on outings with other members of the honors program allowed me to get to know my peers, and in turn allowed me to become more confident in both my verbal and social skills. This will impact my future tremendously…
