Characters:
• Manong- a peasant boy who was in the field with his bull when he saw a girl who attracted him.
• Ading- a quiet peasant girl who went to the well and invited Manong to come over to their house.
Setting: In the well; in a rural area
Summary:
• Manong was in the field, one hot summer, with his bull. At first, he did not notice the woman who was also there until she had rounded the spur of land and did not move. She was watching Manong together with his bull pass.
• Manong noticed every detail in the girl particularly her fresh sweetness and freshness.
• They did not say a word with one another. The woman went her way and Manong tried to look at the path that she had taken. But, there was no sight of the woman.
• After a moment, he went to the same direction and saw the woman once more. She was gathering water from the well. The water that she was carrying splashed over her, wetting her clothes. The woman did not pay attention to the man but he was mutely gazing her.
• The woman went her way and he lost her sight again. He brought his bull to the well but he was constantly thinking about the woman.
• After a while, he started to eat his lunch. He was half through his meal when he saw the woman pass again once more. He watched her with lowered head as she approach. He experienced a little difficulty in continuing to eat but he still managed to get through the motion of filling his mouth.
• When the woman was almost near, he ate faster that he almost choked. He did not look at her. But when the woman picked up the rope of the bucket, he felt like he came to himself. He asked the woman to join him as he eats but the woman smiled slightly and
