When studying this course, I was introduced to the health sector for the first time and it was during this time that I saw how important the health sector really is. I studied units such as Developing Effective Communication and Development Through the Life Stages and these units, as well as others, have taught me the qualities required to care and look after individuals. One unit in particular was Vocational Experience; in this unit I completed two work experience placements. My first placement was at a care home for the elderly and my second placement was at a PACE Centre; a school for children with various physical and mental disabilities. These placements have demonstrated a glimpse of what it takes to look after individuals with needs and shown me skills that are vital in the health care industry. Studying a Level 3 BTEC course has also helped me to learn invaluable skills such as meeting deadlines and organisation skills as well as working well in a team. I hope to develop these skills further when studying a university course.
