Hamurabi’s code of law was created by a ruler by the name of Hammurabi, who ruled for nearly 43 years from 1792 to 1750 BC, and is the longest surviving text from the Old Babylonian period. Hammurabi’s code of law served many purposes, and is one several sets of laws in the ancient Near East. The codes of laws were created by Hammurabi to let his people know what was required of them. It also informed them of the consequences that would result from crime. Hammurabi’s code of law followed the old saying of “an eye for an eye,” or if you poke someone’s eye out, your eye shall be poked out as well for the sake of being fair and just. It is important to keep honoring our veterans because they have sacrificed so much for this country. Also we honor them because we need to tell them how appreciative we are of their dutiful service to our country. Even the president honors our veterans. Each year the president or one of his representatives lays a wreath on The Tomb of The Unknown Soldiers in the Arlington Cemetery every Veterans Day to honor those veterans. Even though the first unknown soldier was laid to rest there on Armistice day on the year of 1921 this ceremony still continues. This is one way that shows just how important honoring our veterans…

Veteran’s Day is a time when we honor those who have given the highest level of service to our country. Serving in the military is not an easy thing to do. But throughout history, men and women have heard the nation’s call and donned the uniforms of the Armed Forces. They gave up comforts so that we can live in freedom. They left their families to protect ours.…

Veterans day was originally called Armistice Day. It was established in November 11, 1918 when the Germans signed a peace treaty to end the First World War. President Woodrow Wilson announced Armistice Day in 1919. Congress in 1926 preserved this holiday to be celebrated on November 11th to celebrate the US flags. An act was approved in 1938 to celebrate world peace on November 11th every year. Then in 1953 a Kansas shoe store owner suggested to replace Armistice Day with All Veterans Day. become a person of value”. ~Albert Einstein.Veterans are not just men and women who went to war. Veterans are the cause, we live in a safe country they are the cause, we walk on the sidewalk laughing and enjoying what life brings us. But the question in my mind is we laugh, play, and learn, what about Veterans they don’t laugh, they cry they don’t play they fight they don’t learn they die. We are not grateful we don’t respect the lives we live in every day. But that's not the point, we don’t even remember the reason we laugh, play and learn, if I were to tell you the number of people who died for us to have a bright future those numbers won’t matter the thoughts will. When I think about Veterans day I think about people who came back from the war and live a happy life, but I was wrong after learning the truth. Veterans day was the day we respect what we lose but even more we respect what we gained. That is what Veterans day means to me.…

Veterans people who risk their lives for people they don’t even now. Usually when we see a veteran we thank them for their service. For most Americans, we honor our veterans because they served us to be free and without them we wouldn't be free in our country. But why? Why do we honor our veterans years after they're done serving. We need to honor them because they fought and worked hard for friends, family, and country. To me, if we don't honor our veterans it would be heartbreaking to the veterans that made our country free. Also, since we are free we can have our own beliefs and not believe in something that someone else does, and have our own rights so we can do what we want to do. Thank you to all veterans that served for our country so we can be free.…

As of 2013 there were roughly 57,486 veterans without a home. Since 2009, the fight against homelessness has produced a massive 24 percent decrease in veteran homelessness.
