Born: 01 January 1992 Hometown: Greenville, SC As of: 17 January 2013

Specialist Josiah T. Smith has been assigned to Echo Company 3-158 as the unit’s CBRN Specialist and Primary armor. He is in charge of maintaining all CBRN equipment for Echo Co. in accordance with Army Standards. Also he is in charge of maintaining arms room standards, memos, logs and weapons according to AR 190-11.
Prior to arriving in Germany, SPC Smith received Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and upon graduation entered the United States Army Reserve where he served honorably for over three years assigned to the 391st EN BN, HHC as the CBRN NCO and 2nd squad leader. He received on the job training in Combat Engineer Operations until he was sent to Combat Engineer School and awarded the MOS of 12B. While with the 391st SPC Smith was awarded a Certificate of Achievement (COA) as “Hero of the Cycle” at Fort Irwin’s National Training Center (NTC) and an Army Achievement Medal (AAM) for his outstanding service and performance as the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) NCOIC. Other awards include: National Defense Service ribbon, Global War on Terrorism, Army Service Ribbon, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal.
Short term goals for SPC Smith are to become a NCO and attend the United States Army Drill Sergeant School so he can start to give back to the Army. Some long term goals of SPC Smith, is to earn the rank/position of 1SG and CSM so he can always keep PVT Joe Snuffy in the forefront of the commanders mind during the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP).
