From the 1800’s until about the 1980’s the strategy of many agencies was to have uniformed police randomly patrol the streets, the outcome of these patrols were to hopefully deter crimes with the police presence, interrupt crimes in progress and to apprehend criminals. Since then the random police patrol has in fact lessened with the use of IT to optimize the patrolling. IT is a very important part of law enforcement since we live in a world where talking to the police is shunned upon, so if we can use a software to track and deter crime then it will be vey beneficial. The goal of this was to reestablish relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. With the use of IT together the two parties would implement strategies that would examine and resolve many of the issues or concerns in the community, but most importantly the trust between the two groups would be rebuilt. Random patrolling is still necessary to let the community see the police presence. Without the community physically seeing police their opinions of them would be negative. It’s very important to know that IT is used in addition to the normal patrolling method not as a replacement.…
The way that one lives, acts, and reacts to various situations; along with the level of accountability that they have for themselves within their general environment, are all characteristics that combine together to form the basic behavior of an individual. There are many qualities of life that can affect behavior, but experience is the most prominent. This essay will consist of comparing and contrasting the behavior of the military experienced and the non-military experienced group in an attempt to prove why the militaristic behavior is superior. This will be done through the examining of the characteristics of knowledge, commitment, and discipline to see the variances and the similarities between the two groups.…

) Police are a “body of officers representing the civil authority of government.” (Banton) Police are responsible for maintaining public order and safety, enforcing the law, and preventing and investigating any criminal activities. The existence of American law enforcement has been around since the first Europeans landed in North America. America inherited much of its government policies from Great Britain. “The first Europeans who landed on our shores, found a strange and wondrous new land, inhabited by strange and wondrous people. The newcomers had all they could do to establish themselves and to protect themselves from those who did not wish to share their land. Thus, policing was the responsibility of all able-bodied men, and, of course,…
Yes I do believe that the military will be excepting of a culture changes. The culture of the military is forever going to be changing. It may not be as great as desegregation, woman’s rights, or as great as the LGBT movement. The world is changing and if you do not change with it you fall behind. I think the military is more open to change now than it was back in war ll. I do believe the military we able to handle the culture changes that it counters in the present and future. Because of what we've learned with in our own country. This will benefit us when learning other cultures around the world. We have never fight a war in our own country. So we should be open to new cultures if we are going to be in other countries. So times I think that the United States thinks it’s the only country in the world and that other people do not matter. Life outside the states if very different and uncommon to us. If we do not know their culture then how are we to understand who they are, what they believe in and why are they are fighting. This will help the goal of the military if the soldiers are well educated in the culture that they are fighting against. In many of the videos we watched in class a number of times the soldiers were talking to the local people. This is where I think educating the soldiers really…

The police departments have come a long way from the way they were many years ago. The police have changed for the better but there is still room for improvement. In policing today there are a lot more officers, detectives, and other law enforcement officials accounted for then there was in the past years. When we have all of these people in the criminal system, it has made the government to be able to provide better protection for the people in the communities. Policing in the past and in the present there are many different outlooks of how the policing functions.. These functions stem from different levels of law enforcement which includes the local, state, and federal organizational levels. These are very important parts of the criminal justice system, because every individual within these levels must be sure to protect citizens, enforce law, and perform the duties that are required of them in order to keep the United States safe from criminals and terrorist attacks from other foreign countries that might try to attack the United States. As years have passed on within policing, there are many possible future changes that will have an effect in the field of policing.…

Many of our military veterans are entirely dependent on the VA healthcare system. With health care costs soaring many cannot afford expensive, private, health insurance. Others have been infected with viral disorders like Hepatitis C and cannot obtain private health insurance even if they can afford it. Our veterans have put their lives on the line for this country and we cannot ignore them when they have medical needs, especially when we have the ability to help them.…
“Federal programs are providing an abundant amount of military equipment to law enforcement officers, along with departments’ own purchases, outfitting officers with more firepower than far beyond what is necessary to fulfill their role as protectors of their communities” as research suggests from the American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU. The images depicted on the news of the neighborhood police officers wearing face and head protectants, and driving in armored vehicles, wielding around rifles made for war, are not incidents alone in themselves, this is a representation of a nationwide trend of police militarization (ACLU). “Sending in a heavily armed team of officers to perform normal police work can dangerously escalate situations…
