they prepare for an operation that was never conducted before.
♣ What where the effects on the United Stated Military after the operations that used the Atomic bomb. How did United Stated Military internally react post deploying the Atomic bomb, how did they feel, react, and what was their support henceforward the events? o The Primary sources that I used were Harry S.
Truman Library and Museum. (n.d.). The decision to drop the atomic bomb, Groves, L. R. (1945, July 18). Memorandum for the secretary of war: Subject: The test. American Experience, and The National Security Archive. (2015, Aug. 4). The atomic bomb and the end of World War II: A collection of primary sources. o The Secondary sources that I utilized were Alperovitz, G., Messer, R. L., & Bernstein, B. J. (1991). Marshall, Truman, and the decision to drop the bomb. International Security, 16(3), 204–221. Walker, J. S. (2005), Recent literature on Truman’s atomic bomb decision: A search for middle ground. Diplomatic History, 29(2), 311–334, and Morton, L. (1957). The decision to use the atomic bomb. Foreign Affairs, 35(2), 334–353. o Using these sources, I have obtained further understanding in the decision processes involved within the development of the Atomic bomb, and participation of the U.S. Military. Also, the primary sources outline the secrecy, the leaders, and the timelines for the event leading up to the utilization of the weapon. While, the secondary sources allow for further insight into the subject, and in turn allowed for a bigger picture of events that transpired. The combination of my primary and secondary sources allowed for continuing insight into my research questions, however, I believe more sourcing will need to be conducted to really dive into the heart of the
questions.
