What events and people fall under this important theme of the American Civil War?
Military was very important in the Civil War, and was basically the most important thing. When people think about war the first thing that comes to their head is weapons and militia. The military was a key factor in the war the winner was going to be determined on who had the better army and whose side was stronger. There were two major armies involved in the Civil War, but there were others who weren't as important. The main two were the Union Army and the Confederate Army. The Union Army fought for the Union, and the Confederates fought for the Confederate States of America.

If there were no military there would be no war.It changed the immigrant population a lot too. People came to join the armies after famines in their countries or to come for the Gold Rush, but most fought for money and to start a new life. The military is the main force of the war including armies, weapons, and generals. The two main armies, Confederate and Union, were the main cause of the war. The conflict came from the Confederate States of America wanting slavery and their own power, but the Union didn’t want that. The armies broke the U.S into two, and thus started the war. From there on the war is based on military tactics and battles. The military had broken the U.S apart but had also put it back together. If the Union would have lost the U.S. wouldn’t have all 50 states.
In total about 700,000 people were killed during the war, over 350,000 Union and over 250,000 Confederate. The crazy part was that most died from disease (by far the most common cause of death), accidents, drowning, heat stroke, suicide, murder, execution, than in combat (“Civil War” ). The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in U.S. history, including one of the bloodiest days in U.S. history, the Battle of Antietam. t was a war that saw many "firsts."
