At Cacciutti Veteran Educational Foundation, our belief is that our discharged veterans deserve added consideration when obtaining gainful education and employment opportunities to be able to support themselves, along with proper medical care, both physical and psychological, to help the veteran assimilate into civilian life. Cacciutti Veteran Educational Foundation has noticed the lack of capable, skilled workers to take over for those who are exiting their respective fields, along with the rising unemployment rate and psychological problems of returning combat veterans like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as the problems that even non-combat veterans have assimilating back into civilian society. So Cacciutti Veteran Educational…
In her article Sørensen writes that “…veterans have all experienced and come to appreciate the confidence, loyalty, solidarity, and support that the collective offers. When faced with the challenges of reintegration into civilian life, they mimic their past and establish veteran communities around, for instance, political agendas, hobbies, and interests” (239). This can be seen when a group of veterans support their fellow Corporal after they return home and find that his wife had abandoned him. One of them recalled “We had somebody with him the whole weekend until we were sure he was good” (Klay 10). This support from a group of veterans shows that the comradery created from being in a war together can be very important for times when veterans cannot connect with society or their loved ones. Even though these vets had their own lives with loved ones to reconnect to, they immediately reached out to their fellow vet who had lost someone he cared for. This support shows that society may not understand how to help soldiers integrate back into a non-military lifestyle and sometimes other vets are needed to provide this support…

This chapter also discussed how as time progressed, more resources became available to service men and women's families that were left behind. In addition, social workers played an important role in helping families improve over time by providing and establishing many needed services and programs.…

A Raisin in the Sun is a heavily decorated tale of a family striving to survive in a late 1950’s South Side, Chicago. There are numerous social problems that plague our world today. These issues can be very detrimental to our society as a whole and can also have very negative impacts on many lives. One major social problem we are facing today is the way we are dealing with and handling our United States Veterans. Despite the fact that we are one of the world’s most powerful nations we are failing to properly take care of our service members who put their lives on the line to ensure our safety and freedom as United States citizens. The issues facing our veterans are substantial and numerous. I will be focusing on the majority of the most outstanding and significant issues facing our veterans…
“Federal assistance programs are available to provide a safety net for disadvantaged groups who lack the resources to provide basic necessities for themselves and their families” (Public Assistance Law & Legal Definition). Within society, there are multiple organizations that fulfill the role of federal assistance programs. For example, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). The government provides $400 billion dollars annually to allow these programs to help individuals with their financial needs on a daily basis.…
President Lincoln affirmed the government’s obligation to care for those injured during the war and to provide for the families of those who died on the battlefield. Lincoln’s immortal words became the Veterans Affairs motto in 1959. In this essay I will talk about how our country has continuously supported our veterans by giving them the opportunity to get the education they want, and also by giving them a chance at a job so they can continue their lives once they’re back. Lastly, I would like to talk about the health care benefits that our veterans so rightly deserve.…
The question is always talked about whether or not the U.S. is treating our veterans honorably and if they are receiving the benefits that they deserve. On June 22, 1944 President D. Roosevelt signed the “GI Bill of Rights”. This bill provided benefits for WWII veterans and was the start of “giving back” to our veterans. The GI bill transformed the economy and society of the U.S. (VA History). On June 21, 1930 the VA was established. VA veterans of the U.S. who served may be eligible for a broad range of programs and service by the VA. Benefits is based upon discharge from active military service (Judith). Also about homeless veterans after being discharged. They come home to nothing, not receiving support from family or friends. Many veterans…
The U.S Department Veteran’s Affairs (VA) provides a wide range of benefits for our service members, veterans and their families. Some of these benefits include but are not limited to include compensation, disability, education, and home loans. Throughout this paper I will discuss these benefits and the eligibility required to receive them. Eligibility for most VA benefits is based on type of discharge received through the military which is normally all discharges under other than dishonorable conditions.…
