Marks a target and directs the fire team’s fire on the target

Maintains communication with the squad leader
The senior fire team leader assumes the duties of the squad leader in the event of a casualty. Automatic Rifleman
Equipped with the M249 squad automatic weapon (SAW) and the combat knife (kbar), the SAW gunner:

Carries out the team leader’s orders by focusing firepower on enemytroop concentrations of four or more

Maintains a consistent high rate of fire

Assistant Automatic Rifleman
