REACTION PAPER Tracing back to its roots, mind museum was offiacially opened to public some time on 2012, many people somehow loved it because it was the very first science museum of its scale and scope in the Philippines. it offered alot of knowledge giving facts to its every visitor. based also on its offiacial site, "the Mind Museum would like to help give the next generation of Filipinos this currency of mind. While The Mind Museum is not a substitute for schools, we would like to help breed scientific literacy that will help everyone, whoever you are and whatever you are doing in life, to be inspired to understand nature". the museum will not only give the kwolegde on every invention that they created but they also guarantee that they will give you the satisfactory feeling of enjoynment in every section of the museum that you are in. i believe that the museum is very interactiveand is very beneficial to everyone, alln people, not just children will sure enjoy the museum at its best. it was actually my first time to go in the mind museum, it was also a mixture of shock disbelief and eventual acceptance of reality that this is it!!! no backing out, i hought that the travel will take a lot of time, but to my surprise it only took for about an hour. i was really astonished about how they created it, and i was like " is this for real? i felt like i was in los angeles" . to be honest, it was really a life changing experience! i had fun, i enjoyed and i savored every moment. my blockmates took a lot of pictures, picture there and picture there, and me, nothing really significant happened to me, as usual, was just in the corner doing some unusual stuffs, coz i'm not really into pictures. as we go through every section of the museum, we interacted with different kinds of inventions, facts and articles that are something new, something that we never heard before. here, learning is educational and at the same time learning is fun!

As I arrived at the Newark Museum of Art, I noticed that the outside of the Museum looked like a house, which gave me the feeling of it being a very welcoming place. It really was, especially the touring guide, who was very nice to our group , and who really seemed very passionate about Art. At first, the inside of the museum looked very small, and that was because the waiting room at the beginning was not as big as I thought it would be, and there was not really much to look at around that area. Shortly after, we started our tour up some stairs, and through the halls, and I noticed some construction going on around the beginning of the tour. Even though it was a little distracting because of the noise, the information that the tour guide was narrating was far more interesting, especially the way she was narrating it, with such excitement and passion in her words. The colorful painting all over the halls, and up and down the stairs really made my imagination, and art critique expand for that hour and half tour.…

Museum objects can act as cues for memories of past events, both institutionally and personally (Paris & Hapgood, 2002). Where SOHO P.6. is concerned, the value and significance of a medical specimen lies more in its ability to convey scientific concepts to both children and adults. They can help to provide an insight into the development of medical practice and through this wider social historical context can be explored. Informal Learning Environments (ILEs), such as museums, offer an environment in which exploration and curiosity are encouraged. This interest on the part of the visitor can be used to guide their learning within the space (Paris & Hapgood, 2002). Children, for instance, often have questions but this can be mostly reflective, especially where sex and relationships education is concerned. In ILEs like the UCL Pathology Museum, these questions can be approached more openly through the use of objects as a starting point for discussion. As children physically…

Museums bring history and culture to life by allowing individuals to gain unique hands on experience that is different from learning from textbooks or television. One can never know the reality behind certain artifacts and art until they see it for themselves. The perception of viewing a multitude of replicas and pictures such as the Mona Lisa can be dramatically different from witnessing the painting up close. The interactive experience allows one to engage and immerse ourselves back into time to learn about the truth of different cultures and traditions. The intent of museums is not purely to enthrall historians and scholars, but to create an environment which is welcoming to all individuals. While historians argue that museums…

To my surprise it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Being on just one floor of a building I thought it would be a pretty limited museum but it is way bigger than expected. There are four exhibits on display in the museum. One is a permanent display in the museum. There are also a couple of smaller displays in an area in the museum. I couldn’t take any pictures in the museum due to the many signs up saying not to.…

I experienced this wonderful space for the first time, as my fiancé [Calvin] and I chaperoned my eight year old sister [Amya] and my seven year old cousin [Ta’mari] on a Sunday afternoon. We went this first Sunday for Free First Sundays. It didn't take very long to get tickets and start viewing everything the museum had to offer. We rode the BART from El Cerrito Del Norte (Richmond/Fremont line), got off at Lake Merritt station, and walked one block up the street on Oakland to 10th street which is near Laney College. The museum envisioned as a porous building with multiple casual entrances and exits instead of a grand front portal. Museum and park flowed together as a continuous public space, spanning the equivalent of five city blocks. Easy driving directions (if I had a car), easy parking, very convenient for public transportation and just a gorgeous facility and staff that greatly greet you at either entrance and direct you to either level. The eating area was one of the most creative that I have seen thus far –café chairs hanging from a black board. The restaurant was very welcoming and had a variety of things to choose from (although the food was a bit pricey for my taste).…

Mike introduced me to the museum due to the connection and significance that it has for him and his family. His family, being partially Jewish, was persecuted during the Holocaust by the German Nazi army. Going around the museum gave me insight on what his family endured in the concentration camps which most of the time, these places exceeded the carrying capacity. While we were going through the right side of the museum, there is a history wall of the rise and fall of fascism and birth of the Jewish Holocaust and how It affected the Jewish Nation. Also, on the wall were some pictures and descriptions about what took place at the time and the struggles the Jews faced during World War two. We noticed some names of the concentration camps in Europe marked on the…

I decided to do extra credit for a field trip to the Museum of Tolerance. On Sunday, March 13, I went to the Museum of Tolerance with my sister. The first thing I noticed was you can’t bring camera to the Museum of Tolerance. As for me, I love taking picture and I was very disappointed. However, I went inside to the Museum of Tolerance and I kind of understand why you can’t bring camera to the museum. The Museum of Tolerance, in my opinion, is one of the best museums that were ever created. It tells the story of Holocaust and shows how the Jewish people were treated during that time. The museum shows film footage of deportation scenes and simulated sets of concentration camps. Although the basis of the museum is the Holocaust, the museum also makes people face racism and prejudices. The museum is anything other than ordinary and it is a very educational experience that I had before Getty Museum.…

    Educational Principles

The first educational principle is discovery learning. In this principle, children are encouraged to discover things for themselves by interacting with the environment (Berk, 2010). Teachers provide them with things that will promote development thru their imagination and exploration. By providing a variety of materials like art supplies, books, building blocks, musical instruments and more, teachers are offering opportunities to widen their creativity and enhance their learning (Berk, 2010). Through their exploring and thinking students are taking on an active role in their learning and knowledge building. According to Castronova (n.d), “Piaget was the first to show that children were not “empty vessels” to be filled with knowledge, but active builders of knowledge.” With our current access to so much on the internet and through technology, there are many more opportunities for teachers to introduce children to discovery learning.…
