Responsibilities
They have 7 military tasks:
To defend the UK and overseas territories such as the Falkland Island.
To provide nuclear deterrence to countries such as North Korea.
Providing strategic intelligence.
Supporting emergency organisations such as Red Cross.
To provide security for stabilization within the UK.
To provide a defence contribution with in the UK.
To defend their interests by using power in expeditionary interventions.
Priorities
Their priorities are:
To remove our troops in Afghanistan in preparation for the handover.
To continue the on-going defences within the UK and elsewhere.
To be completely prepared to undertake any military operations if the arise.
To continue with the change of the armed forces in order to simplify them and make them more cost effective.
