Minnesota Honor Society Essay
The total student is so much more than a piece of paper. The total student should excel scholastically, in leadership, service, and character. This is all true. But I believe that the total student should also have integrity, respect, and a drive to make the world and the people around them better. I should be accepted into Minnesota Honor Society because I demonstrate the needed qualifications, and more.
Scholarship, leadership, service, and character are what make up a well-rounded, successful person. I have a good GPA, but, more importantly, I enjoy learning. Gaining new knowledge has formed me into the curious and passionate person I am today. Leadership is another important area of my life. I am currently the vice president of Model United

Integrity, respect, and a drive to make the world and people around you are essential parts as well. One of my favorite quotes is “Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.” - W. Clement Stone. I try to apply this quote to my life daily. Doing what is right, and facing things that scare you for the greater good are two things that I focus on. Respecting others is a silent way of showing value for others. By listening and encouraging others to share their thoughts, you honor their personal rights. Having a drive to make everything around you better is one of the most important qualities to me. I attempt to help the environment better by volunteering in trash cleanups, reducing my plastic use, and by being vegetarian. I help the people around me by sharing opportunities, explaining hard topics, and by supporting others in their endeavors. I make an effort to be the total student for myself, my peers, and my community. I should be considered for Minnesota Honor Society because I meet, and exceed the qualifications of a member. Thank you for this amazing

It is a great honor to be nominated in an esteemed club of NBTHS, which idolizes the importance of academic excellence and values leadership, service and character. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society would not only mark an achievement in my high school career, but would also reflect the hard work and effort I have put into maintaining my grades and developing a respectable character. The NHS gives me a great opportunity to help the community and display my character to its full potential. As a student, academics has been one of my top priorities and maintaining a certain grade in each of my classes has been an objective that I have done to the best of my ability to complete. If I get selected into NHS that objective will be justified and I will acquire more opportunities to improve my community and share my knowledge with others in NHS. After not getting accepted into National Junior Honor Society in middle school I made it a goal that in high school I would possess the attributes to get into NHS.…

There are many passions that factor into my life. Some passions have been temporary but some passions have been so influential to my life that forgetting them would be demoralizing to my present self. Additionally, my short and long-term passions are the driving force that allows me to succeed and prosper. The passion that drives me the most is my quest to exemplify my family and their heritage. I have maintained my passion all my life by earning outstanding academic achievements and continuously remaining active in the school system and the community. My motivation leads directly to the members of my living family. Throughout my high school career, I actively sought to be a part of the leadership programs at my school and beyond, by volunteering my summers to help with Wilderness Nature camp, working weekly at The Cat House, and volunteering around the community as often as I could. I was also a part of student council and NHS in school and was on the leadership teams of both organizations. For my school’s National Honor Society chapter, I was the Memorial Garden Chair, and planned many events to help improve the environment around my high school, from weekly clean ups to picking up trash all around the building to reduce the impact we had on our environment. I want to continue to do as much as I can to help improve the environment, and UNL’s overall…

In life, there are many “roads” we must decide whether or not we should take. Some roads lead to positive destinations, and others lead to negative ones. Additionally, certain roads are more travelled than others. I took the less travelled road of deciding to take Honors classes. In the summer before 8th grade I got a letter in the mail saying I had been recommended for Honors classes. Originally, I thought this was a good thing because it meant I was intelligent and that it was a huge “honor” to be recommended for these classes, therefore, I decided to take the classes.…

I have always had an excellent academic performance at school, but unlike those who only have good grades, I also understood the significance of leading a well-rounded student life. Not only have I participated in many different kinds of activities and competitions, but I have also held various part-time jobs with the result my life experience is far richer than my peers. A particular benefit of this is that I am more tolerant and understanding of others and appreciative of the strengths peculiar to individuals.…
