Minor Characters In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald

Gone Girl follows Nick Dunne after he returns home to find his living room in disarray and his wife missing. She even left the ironing board out with iron heating. At first it appears to be merely a missing person case, however; as the plot thickens, the unreliable narrators become shockingly truthful and nothing is as it seemed. In this journal I will elaborate on the importance of these three minor characters from Gone Girl, Andie Fitzgerald, Greta, and Noelle Hawthorn. Andie Fitzgerald is the main character’s, Nick Dunne, mistress. Andie says this the day she and Nick begin their affair and it capture the essence of her very simply, she’s happy with Nick, perhaps a little overeager towards him even. Noelle is a gullible, average, easily manipulated mother of triplets with one in the oven. Amy herself, when explaining her big plan, labels Noelle as the easily controlled, pliant ‘friend’ she could load with false stories and pretty much plant as evidence. Noelle however came to have a greater use for Amy when she became pregnant again, Amy wanted her story to be perfect, a loving wife murdered by her horrible husbands good, but a loving pregnant wife murdered by her husband? Much better. However, Amy was not pregnant, but she did know how to work the system. First she obtained some of Noelle’s pee by inviting over for lemonade, being pregnant with a little human sitting on her bladder Noelle went to the bathroom relatively quickly. Poor, embarrassed Noelle however peed into Amy’s drained, unflushable toilet. Amy had her sample and used this to get a pregnancy on her medical record. Noelle’s role is very simple, enrage the public, introduce the pregnancy, and unwittingly give Amy what she needed to appear pregnant. If Noelle was not a part of this book the plot wouldn’t be as sharp and Amy would have never had her fake pregnancy.
