I agree that peers are helpful for minority or immigrant groups to achieve a sense of ethnic identity. Ethnic identity is not an easy identity to achieve, and adolescence is a time where teens can explore “what it means to be Asian, African, Latino” (Berger, 2014, p.467) while “forging their own identity” (Berger, p.458). So, these friendships are helpful as they can navigate each other through identity formation by: experiences, values, and culture.
