There is a case from 8 august 2004, where a 19 year young man was hospitalized at a criminally insane hospital. His symptoms of confusion led to this young man getting diagnosed with schizophrenia. Because of this misdiagnoses, this young man was treated with neuroleptic drugs which led him to harm others. This young man had been misdiagnosed with schizophrenia when the young man actually had Asperger’s syndrome. Another case in June of 2000, a man has been misdiagnosed as mentally ill. For 2 decades this man believed he was mentally ill without disbelief. Before he finally knew that he had Asperger’s syndrome instead of being just mentally ill he had spent time in prison and in psychiatric services.
