Misconceptions of Non-Muslims About Islam
MISCONCEPTIONS OF NON-MUSLIMS ABOUT ISLAM
There are many Non-Muslims who have studied Islam. Most of them have only read books on Islam written by biased critics of Islam. These Non-Muslims have an additional set of common misconceptions about Islam. For instance, the claim to have found contradictions in the Quran, they contend that the Quran is Unscientific etc.
ALL RELIGIONS TEACH PEOPLE TO BE RIGHTEOUS, THEN WHY TO FOLLOW ONLY ISLAM?
Major differences between Islam and most other religions is that all religions are basically exhort mankind to be righteous and eschew evil but Islam goes beyond that.it guides us towards practical ways of achieving righteousness and eliminating evil form our individual and collective lives. Islam takes into account human nature and the complexities of human society. Islam is guidance from the creator Himself. Therefore Islam is also called”DEEN-UL-FITRAAH” or “THE NATURAL RELIGION OF MAN”.
HEREAFTER- LIFE AFTER DEATH:
Belief in the hereafter is not based on blind faith. Many people wander as to how a person with a scientific and logical temperament, can lend any credence to the belief of life after death. People assume that anyone believing in the hereafter is doing so on the basis of blind belief.
The concept of peace and human values is useless without the concept of hereafter. Every human wants justice. Allah is Most Powerful and Just. It is said in Quran:
“Allah is never unjust in the least degree”.
This life is a test for the hereafter. The glorious Quran says:
“He, Who created death and life that He may try which of you is beat in deed; and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving” .
Final justice will be met out on the Day of Judgement. After a person dies, he will bw resurrected on the Day of Judgement along with the rest of mankind. It is possible that a person receives part of his punishment in this world. The final reward and punishment will only be in the hereafter. Allah Almighty may not punish a criminal

A common misconception regarding Islam in the United States is that the religion itself is new to the country. This is incorrect due to multiple reasons, including the evidence that Muslims were brought over during the era of slavery from Africa. Additionally there are records of Muslims being present on Christopher Columbus’ ship that was used to “discover” the new world. Islam is an ill-perceived religion throughout most of the Western world. Once known as a quiet and peaceful religion, the general perception of people from other religions and most of the world upon Islam is quite distorted. Ever since the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, an influx of discrimination and prejudice towards Islam and Muslims has spread throughout the world. In “Understanding Islam,” by Kenneth Jost, an article about several accounts of how Muslims are mistreated and stereotyped throughout the world, brings up a recent poll within the United States says that 45 percent of those surveyed has an unfavorable view of Islam. The article also states that a CBS poll in April 2006 found that 46 percent of those surveyed believe Islam encourages violence more than other religions. Westerners must recognize the need to combat the backlash of stereotypes and negativity towards Islam within the 21st century. In order to do so, we must first truly understand Islam by comprehending this unique faith and culture.…
