Rocky’s mise-en-scene :audience understand more about the character Adrian. and how she changes in her personality when she meets Rocky. At the time Rock walks into the pet shop where Adrian works, the filmmaker lets people see her as an old-fashioned girl. She wears a grey cardigan, old-fashioned shirt and cat-eye glasses like a homemaker. She also is a unconfident and quiet girl; she always put her head down when she walks and always avoids looking people in the eyes when she communicates. When Rocky tries to communicate with her, she does not respond; she completely focuses on cleaning out the birdcage and hides herself behind it. The filmmaker set the cage between Rocky and Adrian with the meaning a couple not yet come together. More than that, the shot which comes with Adrian’s face behind the birdcage, is a symbol of she is living in a trapped life and does not have enough courage to release herself.
