We take careful consideration and take into account when planning health and safety in indoor and outdoor environments, we ensure that: It is a suitable environment for the children; Free of any hazards - hazardous objects left on floors, in and around toy sections should be dealt with immediately, so the children will be able to work and play around safely – This particularly applies to children between the age range of 2-3 years old, as they have a tendency to put objects into their mouth. The correct ratio of staff is; Ratio 1-4, both indoor and outdoor within our setting Correct temperature of classrooms; Ensuring our central heating is in working order, and it should reach no higher or lower than 15/18 degrees Celsius. Security; Ensuring our doors are locked at all times throughout the pre-school hours. Ensuring any sharp equipment that we use i.e. staplers, hole-punch, adult scissors are kept out of reach or are locked away safe after use. Level of noise; within our setting, we find it crucial that the level of noise should be kept to a minimum.
