IT Infrastructure
• IT infrastructure:







Set of physical devices and software required to operate enterprise Set of firm-wide services including:
Computing platforms providing computing services : connecting employees, customers and suppliers into a digital environment – mainframes, desk tops, laptops
Telecommunications services : data, voice and video connectivity to employees, customers and suppliers
Data management services : store and manage corporate data and provide capabilities to analyze the data
Application software services : enterprise wise capabilities
– ERP, CRM, SCM, KM shared by all business units

IT Infrastructure


Physical facilities management services
• IT management services : plan and develop the infrastructure – coordinate with business units for IT services and IT investments
• IT standards services : provides policies – information technologies to be used - which, when and how
• IT education services : training in system use to employees
• IT research and development services : provide the firm with research on future IT projects that could differentiate the firm in the marketplace
“Service platform” perspective makes it easier to understand the business value provided by the investments
- more accurate view of value of investments
