Major aspect between the Black Americans and Okinawan One major difference between the two races is their religious belief and affiliations. The Black Americans have strong believes of God and Christianity. This particular race has been built under strong Christianity affiliation. The creation of this race was made by ancestors who had strong beliefs about God and religion. In an argument by Santrock, the relationship between Christianity and the black American population is based on strong commitment and trust in God as the supreme deity (66). However the race has become versatile over the years as people become more inclined on social interactions that religious acquaintances. In reviewing the race, many people bound to it disregard the issue on when creating social circles. The same sentiments are shared by Mori who points out that any interaction created under the black American society are mostly disregardful on their religious affiliation (45). The author further points out that the issue on religion is significantly considered when it comes to putting the vice into practice (Mori 45). For instance, many Black Americans practice their social interactions based on Christian value. In the case of marriages, the population carries out weddings as stipulated by the bible and using religious quotes to bind the interaction. Additionally, one cannot directly point that it is an obvious thing for a Black American to be a Christian. The race has become versatile to accept inclination to any other religion. However, Christianity becomes the basic religion that the race is affiliated to. The Okinawan is an Asian based race and it is based on an island considered part of Japan. Over the years the race has become significant as the history of the race has been analyzed and numerous specifications that are preferred by the tribe being considered. The race however, is greatly connected by the social and cultural norms preferred by the Japanese people. Taira points out the similarity between the race and the Japanese people are great as sociologist argue the cultural provisions of the two tribes as similar (78). In terms or religion, the Okinawans are deeply religious people with little levels of versatile. The race believes on the religious as created by the interaction of their ancestors and the gods. The ancestors of the race created idols that represented their gods and worshiped them either as a god or a mediator to god. There were many gods that represented or had different responsibilities. This relationship to their deities was carried forward to the modern Okinawan society. The society is strong believers of God but their represent the nature of God in many different forms depending on their ancestral affiliations. In an argument by Mori the Okinawan are regarded as few remaining races that are deeply religious and are less versatile in terms of social interactions (88). However, migrated members of the race have found their way into different social circles in which they have to adapt. For instance, the Okinawan are in great numbers in the United States. However, regardless of the distance from their home they still have strong religious affiliations but on this note they prefer Christianity as they find it easier to relate to the beliefs and provisions of the religion.
Mixed race marriage: Black American and Okinawan These two races share most social, religious and cultural affiliations in regards to religion. Apart from the religious perspective, the two cultures are similar with not significant differences that may create a rift in their interactions. This makes them compatible. In regards to religions they are a slight significant difference. On many occasions the Okinawans have been referred to as idolatrous. Their belief in the representation of God through idolatry has caused many to believe they have a great affiliation to idols. However, this is not factual as Santrock points out that the Okinawan are mostly Christians that have a different way in which they represent their supreme being (78). They believe more in the physical appearance of God rather that the spiritual appearance. The creation of idols does not make them idolatrous. When marriage of the two races is concerned, religion plays a major role in the creation of this particular marriage. The religious affiliations in the two races are to be similar or close to similar. Considering the fact that in this case, the Okinawan resides in a foreign country, one may easily point out that they share the same religious affiliation. This is because Okinawans in foreign countries are mostly Christians since few believe in the ancestral creation of their gods. The Christianity aspect will make the marriage of this particular couple easier as religion is regarded as the most significant factor in the family setting, all the families must be from a particular religion. Additionally, the creation of the family setting greatly depends on the creation of values based on a certain religion. In this case, the preferred religion would be Christianity as both marriage partners share almost similar sentiments on religion and creation of values based on the Christianity background.

The perspective on race is changing rapidly right before our eyes. Intermarriages are becoming more popular and very common to see on an everyday basis, but no time soon will this eliminate race as a whole, “Five hundred years from now, unless human societies undergo drastic changes, Asians, Africans, and Europeans will be physically distinguishable.” (Olson p.260) The people of this world will always look different from one another, nothing can change that, but the mixing of these people is doing something much more powerful. Socially, intermarriage has created an idea that you can designate your own race based on the individuals’ personality because with the different races merged together, who is to determine what race you really are.”Joshua Goldstein calculated that about 20 percent of Americans are already in extended families with someone from a different racial group.” (Olson p.252) Many people don’t realize that they are already mixed and have family members of different ethnic background.”The logical endpoint of this perspective is a world in which people are free to choose their ethnicity regardless of their ancestry.” (Olson p.261) People should have the right to pronounce themselves in any ethnicity that is most closely related to how they perceive themselves. The people of Hawaii are moving beyond concepts of race and the rest of the world is soon to follow. “Many prospective students at the University of Hawaii simply mark “mixed” in describing…

In the United States, more than seventy five percent of American citizens have been married at least once. Of that seventy five percent, American citizens divorce rate is twenty five percent. (Barna) Over the past couple of decades, divorce rates among U.S citizens are continuously fluctuating. Research has shown that revolutionized social changes and predetermined social status due to socio-economic hierarchy has had great influence on the changing rate. The changes in divorce rates can be easily linked to the approved social norms of ethnic groups found in the U.S. Comparing white Americans to other ethnic groups like African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics have been found to show similarities in the social stratification statistics, but differences in the social norms and likelihood of marriage. The comparison of white Americans to other ethnic groups has shown a correlation between low social status and high divorce rates. Individuals who belong to the lower class of the socio-economic hierarchy are found to be more likely to divorce at a higher rate than individuals of higher classes.
