It is important to use MLA format because it helps formatting the page layout, stylistic technicalities, citing sources, and preparing a manuscript for publication in certain disciplines. 3. In-text citation shows the formatting requirements of using MLA style for citing sources in the text of your essay, but works cited helps you show the reader where the source came from.
