You are required to produce a concise essay titled:

‘The Role of a Modern Industrial Manager’

It should be of no more than 2000 words in total (you should aim to be very close) and your discussion should be with reference to managing people and technology in the modern industrial workplace. You may approach the content as you see fit.

To do your coursework justice you must write very succinctly and with purpose as every word counts. This is a vital skill that you must learn as a professional. For this reason, you should plan your essay and be prepared to remove wasteful sections.

You will mainly draw from materials based on the lecture slides, supporting articles, your own lecture notes, text books (recommended and others) and recently published journals. You may also draw on web based materials if you must. However, these are the least desirable sources and should be avoided if possible because the content has usually not been vetted.

You should include references to all the materials that you draw upon and these should be documented in the form of a references section at the end of the essay. The format should comply with the ‘Harvard Reference System’ as indicated in the supporting notes for guidance provided in VITAL.

Under no circumstances must you plagiarise material or collude with others. Instances where this is evident will be dealt with most severely and Turnitin software is very likely to automatically identify such activity.
