Mobile Rotary Kiln Used for Nickel Lateritic Ores
Nickel lateritic ores have high moisture contents as well as chemically bonded water in the hydroxide form. Dehydration is a minimum and some pre-reduction of the ore in a rotary kiln is used to optimize the utilization of electric power for smelting operations in the electric arc furnace. Ferronickel production therefore typically uses a rotary kiln and electric furnace process. After the saprolitic ore has been sized for treatment and partially dried, it is fed together with a solid reductant to a rotary kiln. The kilns used in lateritic processing are fired counter-currently, allowing the ore temperature to progressively increase as the ore moves towards the length of the kiln. In the lowest temperature area, the feed section, the remaining free moisture is driven off. Crystalline water is then gradually eliminated as the solid temperature increases while moving through the kiln. The remaining function of the kiln is to initiate the reduction process to minimize the energy consumption in the following process steps.

Mobile Rotary Kiln allows the soil at rig sites, fuel dumps, gas/service stations and numerous other potentially contaminated areas to be cleaned up more economically and efficiently. The Mobile Rotary Kiln is a self-contained trailer mounted unit that can be delivered to the contaminated site and operated until the clean up is complete. It can be moved site to site with minimal set up time. The kiln operates through a maximum temperature of +2,520°F (1700° C) and can process 10 to 15 tons of contaminated soil per hour. In addition, the Mobile Rotating Kiln can produce cement clinker and various densities of expanded clay. The manufacturer claims that the unique ability of the kiln to produce such valuable byproducts could play a very important role in third world countries by allowing them to become more self sufficient and eventually produce export products.

The Kiln burners can be fueled using waste oil and other fuel oils. The manufacturer

Slavery was always a controversial issue in America. Many people saw slavery as an essential part of life in every aspect, while others saw it as immoral and an injustice to humanity. In the 1840s when Manifest Destiny started to thrive, things began to heat up. New territories meant a possibility for a new slave or free state in America. Because the new territories were allowed the right of popular sovereignty to determine whether they would have slaves or not, abolitionists and non-abolitionists were at a constant battle to gain a new state.…

Port Kembla Steelworks has spent $18 million on upgraded sinter machines that reduce the amount of coke need for the sintering process. The sintering process being getting the small particle of iron that were too small to go through processing and putting them through 1100-1300oC heat they will coalesce and form larger particles which improves resource efficiency. The upgrade involve using natural gas rather than coke to generate the heat in the machine because natural gas has a higher heat of combustion than coke and therefore needs less to fuel the same get the same heat. This means less CO2 emissions and less fuel needed to…

The gasoline that keeps your car running is supplied by petroleum. Petroleum is pumped out of the ground. Petroleum is made by the transformation of long dead plants and marine animal fossils. These fossils are under a lot of pressure and heat for hundreds on thousands of years, and in result is a dark substance known as Kerogen. These Kerogen molecules then eventually break down into petroleum or natural gas and are pumped into your gas tanks. That is right; your car is running on a limited supply of dead plants and dead fish souls.…

According to Wikipedia, fuel is any material that stores energy that can later be extracted to perform mechanical work in a controlled manner. A fuel contains energy, mostly heat, which can be released and then manipulated. Most fuels used by humans undergo combustion, a redox reaction in which a combustible substance releases energy after it ignites and reacts with the oxygen in the air. Other processes used to convert fuel into energy include various other exothermic chemical reactions and nuclear reactions, such as nuclear fission or nuclear fusion. Fuels are also used in the cells of organisms in a process known as cellular respiration, where organic molecules are oxidized to release usable energy. Hydrocarbons are by far the most common source of fuel used by humans, but many other substances, such as radioactive metals, ,are currently used as well.…
