The Commission reviewed the effectiveness with the mining sector inside a high-level meeting, chaired by Arranging Minister Rajeev Shukla. Major officials from ministries concerned attended the meeting.
"We mentioned problems related to the mining sector and asked ministries concerned to get their act together to enhance the manufacturing," Shukla advised reporters following the meeting.
"The Commission has asked them to carry out the needful to eliminate the impediments towards the mining sector since it could enable garner more than $30 billion and bridge the present account deficit," he additional.
Latest account deficit (CAD) could be the variation in between inflow and outflow of foreign exchange. While in the 2012-13, CAD was at all-time high of four.eight per cent of GDP or $88.two billion. Shukla said there are in excess of 65,000 mining applications pending with state governments, including Odisha, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Haryana.
