Modern Technology in the Medical World Major advancements in technology are beginning to strongly impact society as a whole through various uses of electronic devices. As medical technology is improving, so is the overall health of regular healthcare patients. Medical technologies have reduced disease risk factors, long term complications of chronic diseases, necessity for drugs, hospital admissions, and indirect costs of caring for patients. Improved medical technology has produced significant advances in the field of diagnostic equipment and surgical and laboratory procedures. Significant advances in non-surgical equipment have increased hospital efficiency. Improved surgical technologies reduce trauma and hospitals.
