Module 1 Reflective Essay

Module 1 is building a foundation. Learning about the diverse group types, and understanding them, is a necessary component of this class. More importantly, it is fundamental for a counselor. Classifications of counseling seem endless. Ongoing groups, time limited groups, closed groups, guidance, psychotherapy and the list continues on. Generate a plan. As a new upcoming counselor, decisions about needs and outcomes are crucial. Planning for group sessions is a great undertaking. This is an uncharted area for me, who would conceive the work that goes into the planning. A critical take away, for me, we are not therapists!
