Despite his broken heart caused by Miss Havisham’s scheme, Pip is still able to feel empathetic towards her. His willingness to move on and forgive showed how he matured within the last couple of chapters. It shows that he understands that there is more to life than materialistic and superficial things. He has learned that social class is an invalid judge of character and being a gentleman is more about the inside that outside. Pip has realized that Magwitch has risked his life for Pip’s success and only showed kindness to him, and now he must do that towards the ones whom he hurt in the past.
Joe is the most admirable character in the book because of his kindhearted nature. After the tension and hurt that Pip has inflicted upon him, he still returns to care for him despite his snobbiness.
